ArmInfo.Armenian President Armen Sarkissian in an interview with the Indian television channel StratNews Global touched on the denial of the Armenian Genocide by the Turkish authorities.
According to the President's press service, Sarkissian noted that the problem of recognition of the Genocide arose because it was not recognized by Turkey. <If you accept your mistakes, you are strong, such a step does not make you weaker. 1.5 million Armenians were killed in Ottoman Turkey. These people lived on this territory for centuries. This is historical truth and the world has recognized it. And if Turkey officially recognizes the Armenian Genocide, this will primarily benefit Turkey and its people. For example, Turkey wants to join the European Union, but one of the greatest European values is the tolerance that unites Europe. You can recognize history and go on the path of tolerance>, the President noted. He emphasized that as a result of the Genocide we lost entire generations that were not born.
Sarkissian noted that the Armenian people went through many difficulties, and this made it a "surviving people".
The President also touched on the spread of the coronavirus epidemic in the country. He noted that each person, in one way or another, is trying to contribute to the fight against the epidemic of coronavirus.
According to Sarkissian, the political realities have changed in this connection. Country leaders began to communicate directly with people through social networks. In this quantum world, the concept of democracy has also changed, suggesting that there is constant contact with citizens. This requires a review of the logic and approaches, otherwise politicians will fail.
