ArmInfo.Diaspora Armenians are doing everything possible so that the Armenian Genocide is recognized abroad.
The High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan announced this on April 21 at a press conference. He stressed that this is a kind of tool for exerting pressure on Turkey. <With their consistent efforts, our compatriots report this to the whole world. A few months ago, the House of Representatives and the United States Senate recognized the Armenian Genocide. A few years ago it was impossible to believe it, but today it is an objective reality>, Sinanyan emphasized. He also noted that through further joint actions of the leadership of Armenia and Diaspora Armenians, the Armenians can achieve that the international community will force Turkey to recognize the fact of the Genocide. <This will be one of our greatest achievements, since this crime against humanity must be recognized by the entire international community, including Turkey. It is the recognition of the 1915 Armenian Genocide that will prevent the implementation of such crimes in the future>, Sinanyan concluded.
The fact of the genocide of the Armenian people in the Ottoman Empire, which killed up to 1.5 million Armenians in 1915, is recognized by many states.
