Vazgen Poghosyan accused of bribing Vahagn Vermishyan released on  bail

ArmInfo. Chairman of the Board of Directors of "Yerevanshin" CJSC Vazgen Poghosyan accused of bribing the former Head of the Urban Development Committee Vahagn Vermishyan was released on bail.

According to the Poghosyan's lawyer Gagik Khachikyan, the amount of  the bail is 3 million drams. He also noted that his client does not  admit his guilt, and considers the charges against him unfounded.

It should be noted that in the case of receiving a bribe by the  former head of the urban develpoment committee Vahagn Vermishyan, 6  citizens were charged, and three of them were arrested. On April 6,  the court granted the request to extend the arrest of Vermishyan.

To recall, according to the NSS, Vermishyan, using official  authority, contrary to state interests and having agreed with several  developers, received five bribes in the amount of 1 to 2.5 million  drams in exchange for making the necessary construction decisions.  So, in order to hide the receipt of bribes, Vermishyan opened a  company conducting design work and registered it in the name of one  of his relatives. The official sent the developers with whom he  worked to this company. In addition, in October 2019, Vermishyan met  with the owner of several construction companies, whom he promised to  introduce him to the title of Honored Builder of Armenia. In  exchange, he received $ 5 thousand and building materials for about  the same amount. As part of the criminal case, the suspects were  taken to the SNB, and three of them, including the chairman of the  committee, were detained. The official who received the bribe  confessed to the crime.
