ArmInfo. The treatment facilities for patients with coronavirus are connected to medical facilities that are subject to optimization. RA Minister of Healthcare Arsen Torosyan announced this at a press conference on April 2.
According to him, to date, work is underway to mobilize medical centers that previously did not work at full capacity and were subject to optimization. Meanwhile, taking into account the current development of events in connection with the coronavirus, a decision was made on their urgent repair, technical and personnel re-equipment. In the case of other medical facilities, which also did not work at full capacity, these actions, according to Torosyan, would take a year or two, which is unacceptable in this situation.
In particular, re-equipment and repair work were carried out in the Nork infectious diseases hospital, in several departments of the orthopedics center, in a building with 50 beds in the Kapan Center. Meanwhile, the Artashat medical center and the Surb Grigor Lusavorich hospital were fully prepared to receive patients with coronavirus. In total, 9 medical centers are currently connected to the fight against COVID-19.
According to Torosyan, such large-scale and one-time mobilization work in the healthcare system of Armenia was last carried out in the 1990s, during the years of the Karabakh war. As noted, such work allows the health system to operate normally for other activities not related to COVID-19.
