ArmInfo.Business entities supplying food to the armed forces of Armenia will receive an advance payment. The decision on this was made at a meeting of the RA Government on April 2.
According to the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia David Tonoyan, the need to use the new mechanism is due to the problems that have arisen related to the spread of the coronavirus, which, in turn, has led to financial difficulties for companies. For this reason, it is proposed to introduce a prepayment mechanism, which will be provided in the presence of bank guarantees. Moreover, as the Minister noted, after the completion of contractual obligations, the signing of protocols and acts on the acceptance of work, the total amount for the work performed will be reduced by 10%.
In turn, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan noted that the main task of the project is to provide military personnel with high quality food. According to him, when the program began to be implemented, in fact, it was then about entering the dark forest. In the course of its implementation, issues were identified that needed to be addressed. In particular, due to insufficient volumes of electricity for the army, an electrical substation had to be built. Now, in order to solve emerging problems, a prepayment mechanism is being introduced.
