ArmInfo. Governor of Kotayk region, Romanos Petrosyan, said that he had never taken any action against anyone. Petrosyan said this on March 10 at a press conference.
He noted that he had never had personal contacts with the mayor. According to the governor, on several occasions, using personal contacts, he called on Mayor of Abovyan to do everything possible so as not to run into problems with the law and avoid possible political speculation. "The fact is that I would not want at all that unlawful acts would be committed in the region in which I am the governor," Petrosyan explained.
The latter also mentioned that the mayor of Abovyan is trying to present the facts in the wrong light. "Law enforcement agencies established that Vahagn Gevorgyan assumed the duties of the governor of the region. Indeed, in fact, out of 19 buildings under construction, 13 are built on communal and third-party lands, without appropriate permissions. The mayor had to take measures, however, he did so and didn't. According to the working group, construction companies should restore 150 to 600 million drams to the administration's budget, "Petrosyan concluded.
It should be noted that a criminal case was opened against Abovyan's Mayor Vahagn Gevorgyan. The latter is accused of unauthorized seizure of communal land and illegal construction. Gevorgyan himself does not plead guilty.
