ArmInfo. The Ministry of Healthcare of Armenia continues to closely monitor the development of the situation in connection with the epidemic of coronavirus (COVID-  2019).

So, according to the report of the RA Ministry of Healthcare received  by ArmInfo, the difficult epidemiological situation in China related  to the spread of the coronavirus COVID-2019 is still preserved.   According to the World Health Organization (WHO), as of February 19,  already 74,280 people were infected with coronavirus, 2006 with a  fatal outcome. In 25 countries outside of China, 924 confirmed cases  of COVID-2019 (3 fatal cases) were recorded. Around the world, 75,204  cases of the virus have been recorded.

The Ministry of Healthcare of Armenia referring to the Chinese media  also informed that according to the situation as of 9:05 am on  February 20, 74 675 cases were recorded in China, 2121 were fatal,  another 11 864 people were in serious condition, while 16 192 people  had already recovered.

"Coronavirus prevention work is ongoing both in the whole world and  in Armenia. Work is being carried out both at state checkpoints and  laboratory tests are being carried out. All persons arriving from  China are under surveillance. As of 3:00 pm on February 20, there  were no positive results of the tests, "the Armenian Ministry of  Healthcare noted.

The ministry also informed that they are monitoring the situation in  neighboring Iran, where today two fatal cases were recorded in  connection with a coronavirus infection.

The Ministry of Healthcare emphasized that communication was  immediately established with the Armenian Embassy in Iran and with  colleagues from the Iranian Ministry of Healthcare. "It was found  that 5 cases of coronavirus were recorded, 4 cases in the city of  Ghom, two with a fatal outcome, and another in the city of Arak. In  this regard, it was proposed to strengthen measures at the Meghri  checkpoint of the Armenian-Iranian border," informed at the RA  Ministry of Healthcare.

Earlier, it became known that in neighboring Iran, two people died  from the coronavirus. These are the first cases of coronavirus  infection in Iran. In the city of Ghom, where two people with  confirmed coronavirus were killed, school classes in connection with  the coronavirus were discontinued on Thursday.
