PAP will not participate in process of holding a referendum on  constitutional amendments

ArmInfo. Today, a meeting of the political council of the Prosperous Arenia Party was held, at which the PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan asked participants to present their  views on the party's participation in the April 5 referendum.

According to the PAP press service, members of the political council  of the party presented their views and approaches, after which the  PAP leader also presented his political position on this issue,  according to which the party supports the idea of direct democracy  through a referendum, but in any case can not take part in the  controversial in terms of legislation processes.

, the statement  says.

By unanimous decision of all members of the political council of the  party, the PAP will not take part in the process of holding a  referendum on constitutional amendments.

It should be noted that on February 6, the parliament decided on a  referendum, at which the citizens of Armenia will decide whether they  agree to amend the Constitution of the country. On April 5, a  constitutional referendum will be held in Armenia, at which the issue  of judges of the Constitutional Court will be decided. Many MPs and  human rights activists said that this decision is unconstitutional,  since initially the deputies had to send their proposal to the  Constitutional Court.  According to the decision adopted on February  11 at the CEC meeting, the campaign will be held from February 17 to  April 3.
