ArmInfo.In the near future, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia will make a statement regarding the possible restriction of the entry of Chinese citizens into the territory of the republic in connection with the new-type coronavirus 2019-nCoV. RA Minister of Healthcare Arsen Torosyan announced this at a January 31 press conference.
According to him, the tourists who arrived in Armenia from the China are periodically monitored. At present, the situation in Armenia is stable, and no new type of coronavirus has been detected. Meanwhile, on the eve of the World Health Organization (WHO) recognized the outbreak of coronavirus as an emergency of global importance. This statement was made taking into account the registration of the first case of 2019-nCoV transmission from person to person outside of China.
The situation was also discussed in Yerevan during the last meeting of the relevant interdepartmental commission formed by the decision of the Prime Minister. <The issue of restricting the entry of Chinese citizens into the territory of Armenia was also discussed. The RA MFA will make a corresponding statement in the coming days>, Torosyan said.
As for the citizens of Armenia in China, about 400 of them maintain constant contact with the embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to Torosyan, every day about 20 citizens of the republic return from China to their homeland, and in Armenia they are taken under control, especially in case of health problems.
In China, 170 people were victims of the new virus; the number of patients exceeds 7.7 thousand. Cases of coronavirus are also recorded in some countries of the world, including Japan, the USA and South Korea. Meanwhile, WHO does not recommend restrictions on the movement of goods and people in connection with the virus.
