ArmInfo.Former Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan did not discuss political issues with Speaker of Parliament Ararat Mirzoyan. Former defense minister Seyran Ohanyan announced this on January 29 in an interview with reporters . Regarding the visit of the latest parliamentary Inquiry Committee for Examining the Circumstances of the Military Activities of April 2016, Ohanyan noted that for his part, he will assist the Committee in all matters.
"I have repeatedly noted that I would not form such Committee. But since the Committee has already been formed in the country's legislative body, I believe that it should bring its work to the end," the former defense minister said, noting that all the information collected by the Committee should be transferred to the Ministry of Defense.
The former Minister of Defense reiterated that during the days of the April war, the army completed its tasks. "Moreover, in cooperation with the Artsakh Defense Army, we managed to suspend further escalation. I greatly appreciate the actions of soldiers and officers during the April escalation. I would like to note that a well-organized defense is the result of many years of painstaking work," Ohanyan emphasized.
Ohanyan noted that during the meeting of the Committee, the parties discussed the flaws and omissions that were made during the April war. "During my long work in the Ministry of Defense, I have repeatedly noted that having mistakes and correcting them is not a big drawback. But having mistakes and not correcting them is the same as leaving troops on the battlefield," Ohanyan emphasized.
When asked whether fatal mistakes were made during the war, Ohanyan answered in the negative. "The leadership of the armed forces knew and carried out their duties. The armed forces had no problems with material and technical support. That is, there were no problems with the supply of ammunition, food and fuel in the form that some say," the former minister said.
