ArmInfo. To date, 6 citizens of Armenia are in the city of Wuhan, the Chinese province of Hubei, from where the spread of the new type of 2019-nCoV coronavirus began. Deputy Healthcare Minister of the Republic of Armenia Lena Nanushyan announced this at a January 29 press conference.
According to her, three of them are students, the rest have a temporary work contract. All of them, as was noted, are in constant contact with the relevant departments, and adhere to established security measures (do not go out to the street, carefully monitor the food, and so on). Earlier it was reported that the number of coronavirus victims in Hubei increased to 125 people, and infected - up to 3554 people. According to the latest data, in China 2019-nCoV claimed the lives of 132 people, and the number of infected is approaching the mark of 6 thousand.
Nanushyan stressed that Armenia is taking steps to prevent the entry of the 2019-nCoV coronavirus into the republic. In particular, since January 26, there has been a ban on the import of food products and raw materials of animal origin produced in China. However, this measure also applies to products manufactured in other countries based on Chinese raw materials. In addition, the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, based on the current situation with the new type of coronavirus, calls on Armenian citizens to temporarily avoid visits to China, except in extremely urgent cases. The border control was also tightened: passengers, in particular, are required to fill out the appropriate form, which indicates their country of residence. In addition, information posters were installed at checkpoints in four languages (Armenian, Russian, English and Chinese) with a list of 2019-nCoV prevention activities. The deputy minister informed that the Armenian side is in constant contact with foreign experts, including from the World Health Organization and the EAEU countries, which allows for the rapid exchange of information.
