ArmInfo. The trial on March 1, 2008, in which second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan is participated, has been postponed. The fact is that lawyer of former CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov Mihran Poghosyan, who is also involved in this case, refused to participate in the trial.
The trial began with the fact that Judge Anna Danibekyan read out the appeal of Poghosyan. The latter noted that the court does not comply with the principle of specificity of the parties, and the defense is in adverse conditions. Poghosyan also noted that the court did not in any way respond to the threats that were voiced against lawyers during the trial.
The fact is that at the last meeting, one of the injured persons said: " Speak more respectfully on March 1, otherwise you will find yourself:". But the continuation could not be heard, since the defense side expressed its protest. Judge Anna Danibekyan promised to study the record of the court session, however, today the latter stated that she did not find any threats to the lawyers in the record. In case of disagreement, according to her, the defense can apply to the relevant legal authorities. Robert Kocharyan's lawyer Hayk Alumyan, in turn, also supported Poghosyan's statement.
After that, Danibekyan clarified whether Khachaturov could invite another lawyer to the meeting, to which the latter stated that he was quite satisfied with the work of Mihran Poghosyan. The judge also recalled the impossibility of holding a meeting in the absence of a lawyer and informed Khachaturov that in the event of three consecutive absences of a lawyer, the court may propose a change of lawyer, and in case of refusal, he will appoint a lawyer.
In turn, the prosecutor Gevorg Baghdasaryan protested, saying that this was a defiant step of the defense, and asked to apply sanctions against the lawyer. Danibekyan stated that the court will consider the issue of sanction in the presence of a lawyer. The next hearing in the case will be held on January 21.
It should be noted that the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan was charged with overthrowing the Constitutional system in the framework of the events of March 1, 2008, Kocharyan himself does not recognize the charge and calls this case fabricated.
