ArmInfo. Armenia and Russia have demonstrated their political will to strengthen allied relations. This was stated by Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the RA Sergey Kopirkin at a press conference on December 24, speaking about the main achievements of the past year.
According to him, in terms of the Armenian-Russian relations, 2019 ends on a positive note. In particular, he pointed to the intensive development of relations in various fields, and above all, in the direction of political dialogue. "We are united by a very serious political will to develop allied relations," Kopirkin emphasized.
The ambassador emphasized the interaction of the two countries within the EAEU, CSTO and the CIS, as well as on such international platforms as, for example, the UN and the OSCE. <The results of the vote on issues of fundamental importance to us, show that Armenia is a key partner on which we can rely on in the most serious situations, "he said. The Chairmanship of Armenia in the Eurasian Economic Union was also praised. At the same time, Kopirkin indicated that serious steps had been taken to increase the international prestige of the EAEU.
The ambassador also drew attention to close inter-parliamentary relations, noting at the same time that serious events were taking place along the parliamentary line. Stressing the existing prospects for deepening foreign policy cooperation, the ambassador emphasized the participation of Armenia in the humanitarian mission to Syria, which is carried out in close cooperation with Russian colleagues. According to him, assistance to the Karabakh settlement is one of the priorities of foreign policy.
Kopirkin emphasized that Armenia remains the object of strategic investments of Russia. According to him, the Russian side is following reforms and strategies being implemented in the republic in the economic, humanitarian, and other fields. "It's important for us that these changes, which directly affect our relations, do not create a dangerous gap," he said, noting the importance of taking into account mutual interests and observing the principles of sovereign equality.
<Russia is very careful about internal processes in Armenia. It is important that the situation is peaceful, stable, with the achievement of consensus between political forces and the strengthening of our allied relations, "Kopirkin noted. The Ambassador also emphasized the importance of the decision of RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to take part in the festive events on May 9 in Moscow, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
