ArmInfo. Andranik Kocharyan, a member of the Armenian parliament from the "My Step" faction, called on former officials involved in criminal cases instituted in Armenia to return to their homeland and voluntarily appear in the investigative body. The message is addressed to former Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan, former head of the investigation group on March 1, 2008 Vahagn Harutyunyan, MP Mihran Poghosyan.
Speaking from the parliamentary rostrum on December 3, Kocharyan noted that he regarded their absence from Armenia as an escape. Recalling their activities at the law enforcement agencies, he noted that while currently abroad and not appearing in the investigating authority, they cast a shadow on the path traveled by those who honestly performed their duty.
<With this in mind, the relevant authorities should apply all possible options for the return of the above- mentioned persons home>, Kocharyan emphasized.
In turn, a member of parliament from the same faction, Kristina Poghosyan, referring, as she put it, to the "pan-Armenian grooms", said that many of the current members of parliament were persecuted, but it never occurred to anyone to leave the country. <Persons in the Vatican, Milan, Panama today send alarms about the alleged corruption of the new government and the pressure exerted. If under the rule of former president Serzh Sargsyan we remained at homeland, continuing our struggle, I urge former officials to return and prove their innocence before the court, "she said.
