ArmInfo.Armenia is among the 3 countries that recorded the greatest progress in 2019 in terms of network freedom. This was reported by the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on his Facebook page, referring to the report of the human rights organization Freedom House.
"Freedom House international human rights organization published the annual " Network Freedom " report according to which Armenia recorded unprecedented progress and divided the 8th line of the rating with France (among 65 countries of the global rating on the level of Internet freedom in 2019. Ed. note), the Armenian Prime Minister wrote.
The head of government recalls that in 2017 Armenia was included in the list of countries with "partial freedom" in the ranking of the human rights organization Freedom House. Already in 2018, as a result of the non-violent, velvet revolution, Armenia was among the countries with free access to the network, taking 13th place in the rating, losing in the region of Georgia. "We are leading in the region by the end of this year and we are one of the eight leading countries in the world in network freedom," Pashinyan said.
To recall, on November 5, the non-governmental organization Freedom House published a report on Internet freedom. According to the organization's report, Armenia improved its performance and entered the list of countries with free Internet. The authors of the report evaluated countries according to three indicators: the absence of barriers to Internet access, accessibility of content and respect for user rights. Armenia scored 76 points out of 100 possible: the more points, the better the indicator in the country. Thus, Armenia has become a leader in Internet freedom in Asia.
