ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan defended the initiatives of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Araik Harutyunyan. The Prime Minister of Armenia during a live broadcast on Facebook touched on the issue of teaching in schools the subject of the history of the Armenian church.
He stressed that he had recently discussed this issue with the Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II. According to Pashinyan, the history of the Armenian people is inseparable from the history of the church. He also emphasized that this issue is of great importance in the prism of the political vector and the accents of the authorities.
According to Pashinyan, when the government set itself the task of being a technological state, the emphasis was also on providing an appropriate educational base, where attention should be focused on such subjects as physics, mathematics, computer science. The prime minister pointed out the importance of creating a common history without separating the state from the church.
He also touched upon the bill, according to which it is proposed to exclude from the educational program the Armenian challenge to such subjects as the Armenian language, the history of the Armenian people. According to him, the feasibility of this issue should be looked at in the prism of international criteria, and see how leading universities in the United States or England, or France act on this issue. According to him, this must be done if we want Armenian universities to be among the leading world universities. He also touched on the extremely mixed public reaction to the performance of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, organized on Saturday.
The Prime Minister of Armenia expressed bewilderment by the fact that any other out-of-the-box thinking causes such a public outcry, and it may come to the point that such people can be considered both "Satanists" and "enemies of the people." However, according to him, the new Armenia should be above all this, in the new Armenia people should think differently, it is necessary to develop and move forward.
