ArmInfo. In Paris the issue of starting a dialogue on visa liberalization between Armenia and the European Union was discussed.
As ArmInfo was informed in the press service of the Migration Service of the Republic of Armenia, an interdepartmental delegation led by the head of the Migration Service Armen Ghazaryan participated in discussions from the Armenian side; with the French delegation led by the head of the migration department of the main department of foreign citizens of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Hugues Besansnom.
At the meeting, the parties touched on statistics on asylum applications in France, procedures, combating illegal immigration and networks, statistics on persons subject to compulsory return, as well as visa applications, their types and the procedure for considering applications. The Armenian side pointed out the fact of effective implementation of the agreements on visa facilitation and readmission between Armenia and the EU, which are a prerequisite for starting a dialogue on visa liberalization. Ghazaryan presented statistical data, spoke about the growing rates of forced and voluntary return, as well as programs implemented in the field. In particular, a project was presented in support of the urgent reintegration of RA repatriates. In turn, the French side expressed satisfaction with the high level of bilateral cooperation in the field of migration and emphasized the importance of ensuring continuity of contacts both before and after the start of the dialogue.
