ArmInfo.The first meeting of the Subcommittee on Geographical Indications, operating within the framework of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union (CEPA), was held in Brussels on October 16.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues within the framework of legislation and the corresponding policy of geographical indications regarding the implementation of the provisions enshrined in Articles 230-240 of the Agreement on Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership of the RA-EU and the previous agreements.
Trademark protection processes were also discussed. <Champagne> and <Cognac>, as well as further work in this direction, as well as other issues related to bilateral cooperation in relation to geographical indications and names places of origin of goods.
During the meeting, the parties adopted the Procedural Rules of the Subcommittee of Geographical Indications and formed points for a bilateral survey.
Recall, on November 24, 2017, the Republic of Armenia and the European Union concluded an agreement <On a comprehensive and expanded partnership>, the main provisions of which temporarily entered into force on June 1, 2018.
In accordance with article 240 of the Agreement, a Subcommittee on Geographical Indications has been established. Meetings of the Subcommittee of Geographical Indications are held at least once a year on the basis of preliminary bilateral agreement.
