ArmInfo.I don't understand why the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan is charged only in the case of March 1, 2008. This was announced at a press conference on October 14 by the head of the analytical center Modus Vivendi Ara Papyan.
He noted that Kocharyan committed quite a lot of economic crimes during his reign. "He sold mines and internal resources of Armenia at a price much lower than the market price, which already contains corruption elements. Moreover, the fact that Kocharyan has no business and owns millions today indicates that he abused his official powers. He is also associated with a number of deaths, both in Armenia and Artsakh, "the expert said.
Papyan noted that he is also surprised by the fact that the second president of Armenia was previously released on bail of the former and current presidents of Artsakh, Arkady Ghukasyan and Bako Sahakyan. "If we did not recognize Artsakh as an independent state, then how can we recognize the status of a political figure in a given country? Moreover, this decision is made by a representative of the judiciary of Armenia. He exceeded his authority. There are elements of a violation of the law in this court decision." - he emphasized.
The expert also said that often the defense claims that Kocharyan should be released, since the latter does not intend to escape from justice. "It is obvious that Kocharyan does not intend to flee the court. But if the second president of Armenia is released, he will influence the process. That is why he should not be released," he noted.
Papyan also emphasized the fact that the attitude towards the second president, quite positive, was taken to the hospital and provided the necessary care.
It should be noted that Robert Kocharyan is accused of overthrowing the Constitutional system in Armenia in the framework of the events of March 1, 2008.
