ArmInfo. In the foreseeable future, the political elites of Armenia and Azerbaijan are not ready for any compromise that could lead to one or another agreement to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. This opinion was expressed by Deputy Director of the Institute of CIS Countries Vladimir Zharikhin at a press conference in Yerevan on October 11.
Expressing satisfaction with the current preservation of relative calm on the border, Zharikhin admitted that in the early 1990s he was trying to find out for himself who was right in the Karabakh conflict. According to him, he actively communicated with representatives of the Diasporas of Armenia and Azerbaijan, and came to the conclusion that everyone has their own truth, and to unequivocally stand on one side is not an option.
"Russia, being co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, is trying its best to remain a mediator in this matter," Zharikhin noted, adding that often Armenia presents Russia as a mediator with quite serious claims.
