ArmInfo. Artak Davtyan, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, reported a reduction in deaths in the Armed Forces. On October 8, at a press conference in Yerevan, he informed about a 39% reduction in deaths in the armed forces. "If in 2018, 28 deaths of military personnel were recorded in connection with the service, then this year there are only 17. Of course, the loss of each soldier is an irreparable loss for us and a tragedy for his family, but work is being done to reduce such cases," - stressed Davtyan.
At the same time, he added that during the specified period of the current year 11 military servicemen died, while in the past year there were 22 such cases.
As for the contradictory data on the number of losses appearing in the media, Davtyan noted that cases of the death of servicemen due to illness or cases not related to the performance of service may matter. According to him, in such circumstances there is a need to inform the public about this. At the same time, Davtyan assured that the scale of Armenia does not allow covering losses, and the defense department does not seek to hide these facts.
