ArmInfo.The Investigative Committee has denied the information circulated by one of the Armenian media regarding the causes of death of former Armenian Minister of Internal Afffairs Hayk Harutyunyan.
It should be noted that one of the Armenian media reported that before the suicide, Harutyunyan allegedly said to someone: "I am forced to give false testimonies, in fact Robert Kocharyan and Gegham Petrosyan are not to blame for anything."
In turn, the press service of the Investigative Committee reports: "We are reporting that to establish the circumstances of the death of Hayk Harutyunyan, the person who was with him at the scene of the incident was questioned. The latter outlined the contents of the conversation with Hayk Harutyunyan, which was not related to pressure on him in the criminal case which is being investigated in connection with the events of March 1, 2008, and generally with pressure on a person. We urge the press to refrain from spreading misinformation. "
It should be noted that today the body of the former Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia, former head of the state security service Hayk Harutyunyan was discovered with a gunshot wound in the head. According to the preliminary version of the police, Harutyunyan committed suicide. As the Investigative Committee of Armenia reports, the incident is being investigated on the death of the former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs by the Kotayk Regional Investigation Department.
To recall, Hayk Harutyunyan held the post of Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia in 2003-2008. He was held as a witness in the case of the events of March 1, 2008. At the end of May 2008, the newly elected President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan dismissed the chief police officer of the country, and later appointed him the head of the state security service, and after two years, in 2010 - the head of the punishment service of the Ministry of Justice. According to some observers, Harutyunyan lost his seat as the chief police officer of the country due to the dramatic events that took place on March 1-2, which culminated in the death of 10 people.
