ArmInfo.During a joint meeting of the standing parliamentary commissions in the Russian State Duma, among other issues, the issue of armament sales by CSTO member states to states having problems with one of the CSTO countries was also raised. This was announced on September 23 at the press conference by the head of the parliamentary commission on Eurasian integration, MP of the National Assembly of Armenia from the Prosperous Armenia party Mikayel Melkumyan.
He noted that of course, special attention was paid to the issue of armament supplies to Azerbaijan, and the fact that Armenia is concerned about this fact. According to Melkumyan, this issue met the understanding of Russian colleagues, and they took into account this concern.
"Naturally, we are all aware of the fact that Russia is selling weapons to third countries based on its interests, however, when it comes to offensive weapons of high power and long range, this issue cannot be left without our attention. Of course, Armenia gets the same weapons at preferential prices, however, this issue still worries us. Moreover, we should also take into account the fact that Armenia is a strategic ally of Russia and is a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, unlike Azerbaijan, "the MP emphasized.
Melkumyan also noted that this issue will be the subject of discussion at the upcoming meetings in the CSTO.
The head of the parliamentary commission on Eurasian integration also noted that issues of the expiration of the grace period for cars imported from third countries to Armenia, the problem of the Upper Lars, the issuance of an additional loan for further modernization and expansion of the capabilities of the Metsamor NPP, etc. were also discussed.
