ArmInfo. The parliament of Armenia suspended the powers of the elected parliament lawmaker from the ruling "My Step" bloc Edgar Arakelyan. The Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan stated this at a parliamentary meeting on Thursday.
To note, Arakelyan previously announced his intention to resign on his Facebook page, in particular stating: <I have made the decision to abandon the MP mandate due to the lack of certain qualities necessary for politics, which makes me incompatible with this activity. I specially emphasize once again that this personal decision is not a demarche against the possible operation of the Amulsar field or the possible ratification of the Istanbul Convention or any other process" the publication reads. He emphasized that he had withdrawn the mandate based on his own free will, without any pressure, solely for personal reasons, which he might someday announce.
"Taking as a basis the statement of the MP, and guided by the requirement of paragraph 6 of Part 1 of Art. 154 of the constitutional law on "NA Rules", from now on we consider the powers of Edgar Arakelyan, elected by the national election list of <My Step> bloc of parties to be terminated, Mirzoyan said, adding that the corresponding protocol was sent to Tigran Mukuchyan, Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
