ArmInfo. Two Russian citizens of Armenian ethnicity were detained in the border village of Chaikend, Geygelsky district of Azerbaijan, Gununsesi.org reports citing its sources.
According to information, a man and a woman were detained while photographing the area. "A husband and wife of Armenian nationality who were Russian citizens attracted attention when they took photos of the village. During the arrest, it became known that persons with Russian citizenship are Armenian by nationality," the source said.
It is reported that during the preliminary interrogation they introduced themselves as tourists from Russia, who stayed in Ganja. The detainees for further proceedings were delivered to the Goygol district. Note that this is not the first case of the detention of Russian citizens of Armenian origin in the territory of Azerbaijan. The Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly emphasized the inadmissibility of such behavior on the part of the Azerbaijani authorities, but in vain.
