ArmInfo.From August 19 to 22, a NATO advisory group on the development of defense education and discipline in the RA Ministry of Defense was in Armenia on a regular visit.
As the press service of the RA Ministry of Defense reported to ArmInfo, the purpose of the visit is to participate in the launch of the "Good Governance and Discipline" pilot program in the military educational institutions of the Republic of Armenia and to conduct discussions.
On August 19, the Head of the Human Rights and Benevolence Center of the RA Ministry of Defense, Colonel Alexander Avetisyan received the delegation of the National Guard of Kansas State, USA.The parties discussed issues related to the current state of the implementation of the self-assessment process of the NATO Discipline Strengthening Program and forthcoming events within the framework of it. NATO representatives noted with satisfaction the presence of positive dynamics in the process of self- assessment, and expressed their readiness to expand cooperation in this direction.
On August 20-21, the group visited the military educational institutions, where in the first half of 2019 for the first-year cadets the "Good governance and discipline" pilot program was launched. The results of the group's visit were summed up during a meeting with representatives of the relevant units of the RA Ministry of Defense. The parties agreed on further programs and areas of cooperation between the NATO Advisory Group and the military educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.
The Armenian police also expressed interest in introducing the subject "Good governance and discipline" in their institutions and in interacting with NATO in this matter. In this regard, the RA Defense Ministry also organized a meeting of the NATO group in the educational institutions of the police.
