ArmInfo. The Court of Appeal of Armenia dismisses complaint of the Prosecutor's Office regarding the arrest of property of former First Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan.
Judge of the Court of Appeal Karen Mardanyan upheld the decision of the court of first instance.
It should be noted that earlier, two judges of the first instance, having examined the complaints of Kocharyan and Gevorgyan against arresting their property, considered that the Special Investigation Service violated the rights of the latter by such a decision. The court did not oblige to eliminate the violation. However, the Prosecutor's Office did not agree with this position of the court, and appealed the decision to a higher court.
It should be noted that on August 21, 2018, the head of the investigation team in the case, Hrach Musheghyan, arested the property of the former deputy prime minister in the framework of the case of March 1, 2008.
To recall, Gevorgyan is accused of complicity in overthrowing the constitutional order, receiving bribes on an especially large scale and legalizing property obtained by criminal means.
