ArmInfo.. As part of the case of illegal tree felling in the "Hayantar" state-owned non-commercial organization (SNCO) "Stepanavan Forestry" it was found out that from 2016 to 2018, the employees of this forestry illegally cut down about 1,462 trees, amounting to 102.329.250 drams.
According to the press service of the Investigative Service, it was revealed that persons involved in the purchase and sale of wood in the city of Stepanavan and surrounding villages, turned to the forester with a request to supply them with wood for a bribe. After that, the forester delivered wood to these persons for a bribe, also having entered into a conspiracy with foresters and the director of Stepanavan Forestry SNCO, giving them part of the bribe.
It was also revealed that in order to conceal the fact of illegal tree felling, the directors of SNCO and foresters, abused their official position, falsified documents, gave bribes and carried out other official crimes.
16 people have been involved in this case as offenders: two of them are directors of Stepanavan Forestry SNCO, three foresters, three woodmen, three SNCO employees, and five people involved in illegal tree felling. During the preliminary investigation, the damage caused to the state was partially compensated. The case was sent to the General Prosecutor's Office of Armenia.
