ArmInfo. All 4.800 buildings and structures in the coastal zone of Lake Sevan, below the level of 1905 meters, with the exception of some pump stations, are illegal.
Minister of Environment of Armenia, Erik Grigoryan, expressed this opinion in an interview with journalists on July 18 after the government meeting. According to the minister, the dismantling of these buildings and structures will require large financial costs. Today, the agency has calculated the price for the destruction of 1 square meter and passed the estimate to the office of the Prime Minister. At the same time, as the minister pointed out, the owners of illegal buildings themselves are obliged to dismantle them at their own expense. "If not, the state will dismantle it with its own funds, and then demand compensation through the court," he explained.
On the clarifying question, what decision will be made nevertheless, Erik Grigoryan said: "All the work that should be implemented on dismantling, cleaning coastal zones will be implemented." As Erik Grigoryan assured, the government sees no obstacles to the dismantling of illegal buildings and is in no way constrained in the implementation of its decisions.
It should be noted that many experts and opponents of the current government argue that if the government actually intends to solve the problem of "bogging" Sevan, then it should dismantle buildings and structures that were built uncontrollably by the authorities in the last 20-30 years.
