Mirzoyan noted that he sees no obstacles to deepening relations, however, there is a need to make the agenda of bilateral partnership more clear. "Our relations should move from the level of diplomatic declarations to a clear partnership track. It is necessary to form an agenda aimed at the implementation of specific tasks," the parliament President emphasized.
Mirzoyan also thanked for the American assistance that has been provided over the years, stressing that support of the United States is important to the economy of Armenia, investment and experience. "There is an opinion that the support of the United States may be even more significant due to the internal political nature of the Armenian revolution, " the NA President said.
Mirzoyan stressed that the tense relations between the US and Iran have a negative impact on the Armenian economy. He noted that relations with Tehran play a significant role for Armenia, since two of the country's four borders are closed. The speaker believes that the development of relations with a friendly country should not be carried out at the expense of another friendly country.
"We would like the US not to exert pressure on Armenia in the matter of joining the anti-Iran sanctions program. We cannot pay such a price ", the President of the National Assembly stressed. Responding to a question related to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mirzoyan stressed that he was considering this issue in the field of human rights, stressing the importance of the participation of the people of Artsakh in the negotiation process. Touching upon the issue of internal political and economic development in the country, the President of the Parliament stressed that judicial and legal reforms in Armenia are a prerequisite for combating corruption. . He reaffirmed the government's commitment to democracy and the rule of law.
