ArmInfo. The Directorate for Combating Smuggling of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia (SRC) prevented an attempt to smuggle a large consignment of drugs, which they tried to transport by postal parcel.
As reported by the press office of the SRC, employees of the anti-smuggling department and the Western Board of Customs at Zvartnots Airport, within the framework of customs control at the cargo complex, inspected a courier package exported to Canada on behalf of Iranian citizen A.G.
During customs inspection, in two metal and cylindrical parts, declared as spare parts for a combine, two cylindrical masses were found, similar to an apion type drug with a total weight of 2,528 grams, dark brown, with a pungent smell.
On this fact, a criminal case was initiated on the grounds of article 267.1 of the RA Criminal Code in the Investigation and Operational Search Department of the SRC. "Operational activities continue to clarify the fact of the possible involvement of other individuals," the statement of the SRC reads.
