ArmInfo. Andranik Hovhannisyan, the Permanent Representative of Armenia at the UN Office in Geneva, met with the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Peter Maurer.
The press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry told ArmInfo that at the meeting the sides discussed the progress in implementing the agreements reached during the recent meeting of Maurer with Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan.
Hovhannisyan highly appreciated the humanitarian activities of the ICRC in both Armenia and Artsakh, while pointing out the importance of the activities that the organization carries out in the framework of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The sides discussed a wide range of issues on the agenda of interaction between Armenia and the ICRC, noted the importance of sectoral cooperation of the organization with various departments of the Republic of Armenia, including on raising awareness of international humanitarian law.
The Armenian diplomat stated the importance of ensuring the inalienable rights of people living in Nagorno-Karabakh, unshakable fulfillment of their humanitarian rights, and also noted the importance of creating an atmosphere conducive to peace.
