ArmInfo. In 2018, the Armenian government performed its work perfectly. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan announced this on June 20 from the rostrum of the parliament, summarizing the results of the last year.
According to him, the year 2018 was unprecedented in terms of the performance of the main macroeconomic indicators. In particular, the presidential elections were held, the prime minister was elected five times, elections were held to the Council of Elders of Yerevan and to local government bodies. Against this background, it was possible not only to ensure macroeconomic stability, but also to complete the year with a 5.1% increase in GDP, with a planned figure of 4.5%. It was also possible to eliminate the possibility of shocks, ensuring the natural activity of all structures, as well as to make a smooth transition from presidential to parliamentary system of government. "Against the background of all these events, the government's activity cannot be assessed as brilliant," the head of the executive body noted.
He added that the trends set last year continue in the current year. In the first quarter of 2019, the country's GDP rate was 7.1%, which is the highest figure in the Eurasian Economic Union. Moreover, in April of this year. economic activity in the country was at the level of 9.2%, which is also the highest result among the EEU countries. The revenue part of the state budget this year will be exceeded by at least 62 billion drams. "I doubt that there are countries in the world in which revolutions took place and in which macroeconomic stability would be ensured," said Nikol Pashinyan, adding that the republic was able to avoid recession.
