ArmInfo. A joint meeting of the Board of Trustees of the "Hayastan" All-Armenian Fund and local authorities started in Yerevan on June 18. Before the meeting, those present with a minute of silence paid tribute to memory of the world famous chansonnier, the great philanthropist Charles Aznavour.
According to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, for more than 25 years of its history, the structure has successfully fulfilled its mission to unite all Armenians and support the growth of Armenia and Artsakh. Nevertheless, as the President pointed out, today there is a need to become a more powerful structure with a more flexible working style.
"To do this, one should not be afraid to change, but try to keep pace with the rapidly changing modern world," he said. According to Sarkissian, the Fund should cease to be a structure that is perceived by people as a body that collects money and builds roads. The Fund should become a national revival institution, the president said.
Armen Sarkissian recalled that the past year was not easy for the "Hayastan" Fund, which should henceforth be above suspicion, beyond speculation, a structure designed to unite Armenia-Artsakh- Diaspora", he pointed out. According to the president, today we need to develop a new vision of work. In general, according to Sarkissian, the Fund should serve the goals of preserving the Armenian identity and national values. The issue, as he stressed, is particularly acute in the era of globalization.
