Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at a meeting with a delegation led by CE Deputy Secretary General Gabriella Bataini-Dragon pointed out the importance of close interaction between the Republic of Armenia and the Council of Europe in various areas, including advancing the Armenian agenda of democratic development. This was reported to ArmInfo in the press service of the executive body of the Republic of Armenia.
Pashinyan assured that reforms in the legal and judicial sphere occupy an important place on this agenda today. In this context, the head of government expressed gratitude to the Council of Europe for providing practical assistance to the RA for their implementation, including the visit of members of the high-level mission of the Council of Europe to Yerevan.
In her Bataini-Dragon, conveyed the warm greetings of the CE Secretary General and readiness to assist Armenia in the implementation of reforms in the judicial and legal sphere. She also touched upon the program of cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the Council of Europe for 2019-2022, the official start of which was given today and told about the directions of the program. Zamgensek noted that the CoE is ready to interact with the authorities of the Republic of Armenia in various areas to implement the reforms initiated by them.
In turn, the prime minister assured that the final goal of the reforms is to form and strengthen citizens' confidence in the judicial system. According to Pashinyan, the goal of the government is to achieve real changes in various areas.
The parties also touched upon the reformation of the Electoral Code of the Republic of Armenia, and the steps envisaged in this direction, a number of other issues on the reform agenda.
