ArmInfo. On 6 June, a meeting was held at NATO Headquarters in the format of a committee of NATO-Armenia Deputy Permanent Representatives chaired by the NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Central Asia, James Appathurai.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, the Armenian delegation was headed by the Deputy Minister of Defense Gabriel Balayan and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Artak Apitonyan. During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of the Individual Partnership Action Plan for 2018-2019.
In its speeches, the Armenian delegation touched upon dialogue and cooperation between Armenia and NATO in various fields, reaffirmed the commitment of the Republic of Armenia to continue the participation of Armenian peacekeeping units in NATO-led operations and missions.
The current reforms in the field of public administration of the Republic of Armenia, as well as efforts to create appropriate conditions for the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict were presented.In the course of the discussions after the presentations, new areas of cooperation were identified, and the objectives of cooperation aimed at their implementation, which will be reflected in the program of the new Program of individual partnership activities.At the request of the participants, the situation on the contact line of the armed forces of Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan was also touched upon, and NATO supported the mediation mission of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.In their speeches, the representatives of the delegations of NATO member countries highly appreciated the cooperation of Armenia with the North Atlantic Alliance in all spheres and offered their support in carrying out reforms in the sphere of defense and security.
