ArmInfo. The fact that the documents disappeared from the archives of the National Security Service of Armenia is unprecedented. A MP from the "My Step" bloc, head of the defense and national security commission Andranik Kocharyan, stated this on May 13 at a briefing in the National Assembly of Armenia.
He noted that similar processes took place in the1990s, when a change of power occurred, and important documents disappeared from the archives of the State Security Committee, which concerned the agents of the structure.
Kocharyan also noted that such a crime will not go unpunished, and all the guilty will be punished. Moreover, the MP said that, as far as feasible, all the missing documents will be restored. The MP noted that the loss of these documents may be related to the events of March 1, 2008.
"However that may be the very fact that these documents were gone clearly demonstrates that there are people who were very concerned about their presence. Moreover, we know that some of the facts from the events of March 1, 2008 were falsified, and law enforcement officials and security agencies took part in this, "Kocharyan concluded. In turn, the MP from the BrightArmenia party Gevorg Gorgisyan stated that those who defended representatives of the previous government probably destroyed these documents. "Now the investigation is underway, and in the end it will be established who is behind this, and what punishment they will incur," the MP concluded. To note, on May 8, at his big press conference, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that some documents were missing from the archives of the National Security Service. According to him, the former government, before leaving the political arena, destroyed the materials stored in the National Security Service. According to Pashinyan, an official investigation is being conducted in the CIS in this case. He didn't talk about what materials are being said: "I'm not a lawyer, and I can't give a legal assessment of what happened, but I think that this crime has an internal character," he stressed. Continuing the topic, when answering the question about the possible holding of lustration in the country, Pashinyan spoke in more detail".
