ArmInfo. Yesterday, on May 6, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China held political consultations, the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported today.
On the Chinese side, the delegation was headed by Advisor of the Department for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC Guo Zhijun, the Armenian delegation was headed by head of the MFA department of Asian, African and Oceanian countries Areg Hovhannisyan. During the consultations, the sides discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest, including the development of bilateral political dialogue and the expansion of mutual visits, the deepening of cooperation and interaction in international organizations.
The participants in the consultations exchanged views on cooperation within the EAEU, as well as on regional issues. The parties expressed satisfaction that positive trends were recorded this year. In particular, about the output of Armenian wine products to the Chinese market, as well as the interest shown by the Chinese small and medium enterprises in the Armenian market, which was facilitated by the improvement of the business climate in Armenia.
The Chinese delegation also met with Deputy Foreign Minister of RA Avet Adonts, who noted the need to make additional efforts as part of the reciprocal visits and events planned for this year in the political, economic and cultural sectors to promote the entire complex of Armenian-Chinese cooperation.
To note, according to Armenian statistics, in 2018 the trade turnover between Armenia and China amounted to $ 771.1 million, an increase of 29% over the year. At the same time, the negative balance of mutual trade amounted to $ 556.6 million, an increase of almost $ 200 million over the year.
