ArmInfo. The justice system is very fragile and sensitive, and any revolutionary intervention in it, including transitional justice, can be very risky. The rector of the Academy of Justice of Armenia Sergey Arakelyan said this on May 6 in an interview with journalists.
He noted that he cannot now unequivocally say whether he supports the possibility of implementing this system in Armenia or not. "In my opinion, if transitional justice in Armenia is still introduced, it should be well developed. In addition, I believe that the need for such a step should also be justified. Those areas in which transitional justice will be applied should also be identified> - stressed the rector. Arakelyan also noted that if all of the above factors are not met, the situation in the sphere that we want to reform will be very deplorable.
It should be noted that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan repeatedly spoke about the need to implement the transitional justice system in Armenia in the context of the large-scale anti-corruption struggle launched by the new government of the country.
In turn, Justice Minister Artak Zinalian stressed that transitional justice would not be aimed at challenging the decision of the judges. According to the minister, transitional justice will be aimed at creating an atmosphere of peace and mutual understanding, and everything will be exclusively within the framework of the legal system in Armenia.
