ArmInfo.Employees of the Turkish embassies tried to thwart the Armenian Genocide victims 'campaigns held in front of the Turkish diplomatic missions in Washington and Tbilisi.
On April 24, the staff of the Turkish Embassy in Georgia attempted to thwart commemorative protests on the 104th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide by staging a contraction on the same territory. Embassy staff organized a concert and exhibition on the occasion of Children's Day, which is usually celebrated in Turkey on April 23. The Armenian community of Georgia called the actions of the Turkish Embassy in Tbilisi unacceptable.
In addition, the Armenians of Tbilisi accuse the city authorities of creating artificial obstacles for the rally. In turn, the metropolitan municipality stated that it had not been notified in advance of the exact time of the two events in front of the Turkish embassy.
To note, Georgia itself, where Armenians are the most numerous national minority, did not officially recognize the Genocide.
At the same time, hundreds of Turks and Azeris gathered at the residence of the Turkish Ambassador in Washington, trying to hinder the holding of the rally on the 104th anniversary of the Genocide.
Shares for the 104th anniversary of the Genocide were banned this year in Istanbul, despite the fact that annually on April 24, memorable events were held in this city. The Turkish authorities did not clarify the reason for the ban and the change in the position of the country's leadership on this subject.
Meanwhile, in a dozen countries of the world, commemorative events were held for the 104th anniversary of the Armenians. The Holy Liturgy was served in Paris, in the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Lebanon.
To note, the liturgy was planned to be held in the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris, but the fire that caused great damage to the building made it impossible to hold a liturgy in it. Actions of commemoration took place in the two largest cities of Israel - in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Events in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide were also held in the Netherlands, during which the protesters submitted a petition to the Armenian government recognizing the Armenian Genocide.
In addition, the Union of Armenians of Ukraine throughout the country organized events in memory of the victims of the Genocide. Memorial events dedicated to the 104th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide were held in Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Khabarovsk, Volgodonsk, Kemerovo, Rostov-on-Don and several other regions.
