ArmInfo. Armenian-Russian relations did not undergo any special changes after the change of power in Armenia, Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin told reporters during a planting ceremony of birch trees along the avenue in the garden of the National Assembly of RA.
He noted that continuity is characteristic of the Armenian-Russian relations, and today the relations between the countries are at a rather high level. "Our relations have a very solid base and are aimed at the future. Our peoples and the leaders of our countries fully realize the importance of developing relations between the two countries. Soon we are expecting the visit of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to Armenia, who will participate in the meeting of the intergovernmental council Eurasian Economic Union ", stressed the Ambassador.
As for the upcoming meeting of the Prime Minister of Armenia with the President of Russia, then, according to the Ambassador, these meetings are fairly regular both in a bilateral format and in the format of meetings of our integration associations. These meetings are very important ", the ambassador noted.
In turn, Vice President of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan also noted that relations between Armenia and Russia are developing dynamically and are becoming better. "A new logic of relations has developed between us, in which there is a complete mutual understanding and voicing of existing problems. Our Russian colleagues positively evaluated this style of work," said Simonyan.
As for the visit of the President of Russia to Armenia, Simonyan noted that this visit was delayed due to the revolution that took place, after which early parliamentary elections were held. "The visit of the Russian President to Armenia will take place at the end of this year. As you know, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin are at a very high level. The leaders of two countries often meet. Moreover, I want to note that we do not expect the visit only the president of Russia, but the heads of other countries ", Simonyan said.
To note, earlier Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matvienko, stated that Prime Minister Nikolai Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin could hold a bilateral meeting on the margins of the Supreme Council of the Eurasian Economic Union, which will be held on May 29 in Kazakhstan. The last meeting of the President of Russia with the Prime Minister of Armenia was held in December 2018 in Moscow.
