ArmInfo. At the checkpoint "Agarak" (Syunik Region), officers of the Frontier Directorate of the Federal Security Service of Russia in Armenia prevented an attempt to smuggle drugs from the Islamic Republic of Iran.
As the press service of the Border Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Republic of Armenia reports, during the passage of the border control and inspection of the transport means, by the servicemen of the Meghri border detachment, in the personal belongings of an Iranian citizen, 40 tablets containing a methodon were found, as well as bundles with a dark-brown substance, presumably raw opium.
"These substances are narcotic and are forbidden for turnover, in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Armenia. The detained vehicle driver was handed over to law enforcement officers of the Republic of Armenia to clarify all the circumstances of the offense," the source stressed.
