The French Interior Ministry said that the cause of the fire in one of the main attractions of Paris has not yet been established, the authorities are conducting the proceedings. Representatives of the French Heritage Foundation on Tuesday night, April 16, launched a national campaign to raise funds for the restoration of one of the main symbols of Paris. As of today, it has been announced that about 600 million euros have been allocated for this purpose.
One of the richest people in France, Francois-Henri Pinault, executive director of Kering, which owns brands such as Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, has promised to transfer at least 100 million euros for these purposes.
Notre Dame is one of the symbols of the French capital. Its construction began in 1163 and continued intermittently until 1345. The fame of the architectural structure contributed to the novel by Victor Hugo, published in 1831. About 13 million people visited the building annually. In the cathedral was kept one of the main Christian relics - the crown of thorns of Jesus Christ, it was saved.
