ArmInfo. Head of the Union of Passenger Transportation Hrant Yeghiazaryan announced the holding of a protest action by the capital's passenger carriers.
Yeghiazaryan at a press conference in Yerevan on April 15 informed that the action is scheduled for April 16 and is of a warning nature. He noted that there are serious problems that Moscow's carriers face today due to the general rise in prices, the lack of government subsidies and the unchanged fare, which was established in 1996.
"Since 1996, everything has risen in price several times, and spare parts, and fuel, and everything else, and the fare has remained at the level of 100 drams. About 100 minibuses have already failed, about 450-500 are under threat. "The routes are closed. We addressed this problem to the Prime Minister, but the problem remained unresolved," the head of the Union of Passenger Carriers complained, adding that fare in Yerevan today should cost AMD 200, not 100.
At the same time, he assured that they are asking for subsidies, and not for raising the fare, which would allow them to break the current impasse and continue their activities.
To recall, on March 7.250 buses in Yerevan did not worked, protesting against installing cameras in the cabins and solving the accumulated problems. In February, a similar situation occurred due to the attempt of the mayor's office to dismiss the director of "Yerevan Bus" CJSC.
