ArmInfo.At the initiative of the Armenian MP of the Syrian parliament, historian, doctor of sciences Nora Arisyan, the theme of the Armenian Genocide is included in the syllabus of Syrian schools.
After contacting the National Center for Curriculum Development of the Ministry of Education of Syria and the discussions that took place, the decision to include the topic of the Armenian Genocide in textbooks on the history of graduate classes for the 2019-2020 academic years was made. The section "Political Shifts" refers to the arbitrary policy of the "Unity and Progress" Turkish Party ("Ittihat ve Terakki") on the assimilation of national minorities in the early 20th century, as well as on the Genocide and deportation of Armenians in 1915. It is also said that many of the survivors took refuge in Syria.
The book mentions the testimony of the Syrian historian Muhammad Kurd Ali.
The "Civilization Unity" section talks about the problems of preserving the cultural values of Armenians in Syria, as well as about the contribution of Syrian Armenians to various spheres of the state.
