ArmInfo. Vazgen Manukyan was appointed Chairman of the Public Council of Armenia. The decision was taken at the April 4 meeting of the RA government. To note, the main goal of the Public Council is to provide society with an opportunity to influence the policy pursued by the authorities, and the authorities to be guided in their actions by the requirements of society.
To recall, the Public Council includes 45 people. On September 6 last year, the first 15 members of the Public Council were approved at a meeting of the Armenian government, after which on October 9 of the same year, the process of forming 15 commissions of the Public Council began. The Public Council appealed to the general public with a call to get involved in the work of the commissions (the deadline for applications was November 8). After the election of the heads of the commissions, the composition of the newly appointed chairpersons is submitted to the Prime Minister of Armenia for the appointment of members of the Public Council. Thus, the composition of the Public Council is replenished by another 30 people. From now on, each of these 30 people nominates their candidates to ensure a wide participation of specialists from different fields, after which, as a result of the secret ballot, the next 15 members of the council are elected who fully replenish the membership of the Public Council.
