ArmInfo.The Chief of the Armenian Police, Valery Osipyan, denied the media information that Narek Sargsyan, nephew of former President Serzh Sargsyan contacted him by telephone.

"I officially declare that Narek Sargsyan or anyone else did not call  me. If you prove the opposite, I am ready to file a letter of  resignation," he said on March 25 in an interview with journalists  after a government meeting.

Valery Osipyan asked media representatives not to spread unverified  information. Such rumors, as the head of the Police pointed out,  interfere with the work of law enforcement officers. On the question  of whether there are problems with the extradition of Narek Sargsyan  to Armenia, Osipyan noted that the Police did their job, the rest is  beyond the competence of the law enforcement agencies of the country.  

To recall, Narek Sargsyan and his guard were declared wanted on July  5, 2018 in Armenia on charges of possessing weapons and drugs that  were found during a search in his apartment. Armenian Police, in  cooperation with Interpol and foreign colleagues, on December 6 in  Prague detected Narek Sargsyan, son of Alexander (Sashik) Sargsyan,  brother of former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.

During the detection, he had a fake passport of a Guatemalan citizen  in the name of Franklin Gonzales.  Armenian police appealed to the  Prosecutor General's Office to organize the extradition process of  Sargsyan. On January 23 Prague Prosecutor's Office confirmed the  receipt of the request.  Some Armenian media then reported that the  law enforcement authorities had managed to find the nephew of the  former President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan in Prague, allegedly with  the help of the criminal authority Andranik Soghoyan (Zap). Soon  Osipyan himself refuted the information.
