ArmInfo.Those rectors, who have turned the universities they head into a party cell, have no place in the new Armenia, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pshainyan stated on March 25 at a government meeting.
According to him, the current heads of educational institutions, starting from schools and up to the universities should withdraw the old practice, when the ruling party's views were more important and decisive than the priorities and content of the education system. "Armenian universities should be apolitical, and there is no alternative to this," he said.
As the head of the Armenian government pointed out, those heads of universities who once did not let the students in(in the days of the velvet revolution - Ed. note) cannot continue working in the new Armenia. "Let them look for new jobs for themselves. The revolution started with this slogan, and it will be completed with it. A week earlier, a week later, but we will fulfill the main ideas of the velvet revolution," the Prime Minister concluded.
