ArmInfo.A meeting on demographic issues was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the government. At the meeting, the prime minister noted that demographic problems, apart from other problems, cannot be solved. According to him, the solution of demographic problems should be considered in the light of the general socio-economic situation. As the prime minister noted, demographic problems can be solved as the economic situation in the country improves.Zaruhi Batoyan, RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs; Arsen Torosyan, RA Minister of Health; RA Stepan Mnatsakanyan, Chairman of the RA Statistical Committee; and Tsovinar Harutyunyan, representative of the UN Population and Development Fund's Armenian office, presented the results and trends in the demographic situation.It was noted that according to the data of December 2018, the number of permanent residents of Armenia was 2 million 972 thousand. It was also reported that in 2018 in terms of the demographic situation, positive trends were recorded, in particular, the difference between those who left and arrived in the country (balance of intersections) in 2017 was minus 26 thousand 897, and in 2018 - plus 15 thousand 313. The balance of passenger traffic was also positive.
The negative balance of migration has also decreased, the difference in the sex ratio of newborns has decreased- in 2013, the ratio of 115 boys / 100 girls, in 2018 - 111 boys / 100 girls. The rate of reduction in the birth rate has decreased, the number of deaths, of divorces has decreased, there is a small but positive trend of natural growth.During the meeting, the main factors affecting the demographic picture were also touched upon; opportunities, activities, proposals and steps aimed at improving the demographic situation were presented.Prime Minister Pashinyan attached great importance to the implementation of measures aimed at improving the demographic situation in the country and gave relevant instructions to those in charge. He also commissioned to create the National Council for the Improvement of the Demographic Situation in the Country under the Prime Minister.
