ArmInfo. The Armenian delegation led by RA Deputy Foreign Minister Artak Apitonyan participated in the Second UN High-Level Conference on South-South Cooperation, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the adoption of the Action Plan in Buenos Aires.
The press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry told ArmInfo that in his speech, he expressed the hope that using the enormous potential of "South-South cooperation" together with the efforts of the international community, it will be possible to create new and comprehensive platforms to strengthen cooperation at national, regional and global levels.
The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia also informed that the republic is working to harmonize national priorities with long-term and comprehensive UN goals in the field of sustainable development, which will be consonant with the ambitious program of reforms of the Republic of Armenia, which were put forward in the country after the velvet revolution.
Responding to the accusations of the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister regarding the settlement of the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict, Apitonyan noted that Baku, avoiding searching for solutions to the conflict based on mutual concessions, rejecting the fundamental principle of international law on the right of peoples to self- determination and continuing to threaten with the use of force, creates real threats for the existence of Artsakh population, peaceful settlement of the conflict and harmonious development of our region. The Deputy Foreign Minister also touched upon the policy of blockade of Armenia carried out by Turkey and Azerbaijan, as a factor in preventing the formation of a good-neighborly atmosphere and stable development in the region.
In the framework of the visit, Apitonyan held a number of bilateral meetings with colleagues from other countries.
It should be noted that the head of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan during his speech at the event assured that Azerbaijan will be able to make a greater contribution to South-South cooperation if the "occupation of its territories by Armenia" ceases.
